A chakra is an energy center. When they work in unison and are fully opened our life force energy is healthy. The body, mind, and spirit benefit when they are balanced. We feel better in every aspect of ourselves. Each chakra has its own meaning as well as colors. The colors can change depending on each person as well as in our daily lives around us.
Let's delve into the history of the chakras. The term "chakra" is also known as Sanskrit for "wheel". This is referring to the spinning, spherical energy center which makes up the chakras. In ancestral times this was known as "prana". The chakra system originated in India between and 500 BC. It was recorded in one of the most ancient texts known as the Vedas.
There are 7 chakras in total starting at the end of the spinal cord all the way up to the top of your head. Each one has its own unique importance and function for the overall well-being of your body. When they are in sync, you have no ailments and are healthy. If they are not in sync, you will be affected negatively impacting your physical, mental, and spiritual health.
The Root Chakra The color is usually red. It is located at the bottom of the tailbone. For men in the perineum for men and for women in the cervical area. The role is to connect all your physical and bodily energy with the earth itself. Basically this is the chakra which grounds you. This chakra is also linked your need for survival which includes breathing, eating, sleeping, and physical security. When the root chakra is balanced you will feel a sense of peace. You will feel safe knowing all of your core needs are met.
Sacral Charkra - Your 2nd Chakra, also referred to as your “sacral”, sits just a couple of inches below your belly button and is most often associated with the color orange. This chakra is associated are your creativity, passion, sexual energy and money.
Solar Plexus – It is the 3rd chakra, also referred to as Solar Plexus. It is associated with the color yellow and sits right at your sternum under your chest area. This energy center is a power center. . It has a lot to do with your personal power and how you choose to create and manifest your desires.
Heart Chakra - The 4th chakra, also called your Heart Chakra, is associated with the color green and sits near the center of your chest area near your physical heart. Your heart center is where your ability to love yourself, others, animals and the planet is generated from. This is also where your “God of Heart” space resides, which is in essence the clear, pure heart centered connection with the Divine.
Throat Chakras - The throat chakra is located in the center of your throat and is associated with a light blue color. There are many spiritual gifts connected to this energy center. The throat chakra is your communication space both in physical form, spiritually, and your authentic self.
3rd Eye - You’re 6th chakra located in the center of forehead, above brows and back a bit inside of your head. There are many other names such as 3rd eye and Anja. This energy center also encompasses your pineal and pituitary gland. This chakra is associated with a deep indigo blue color. The third eye is where you are really able to connect with your intuition to visualize so that you can create through your imagination and lucid dreaming.
Crown Chakra - The 7th chakra, also known as the crown chakra, sits on the top of your head and is associated with the color purple. This is a powerful chakra because it is the bridge between our physical bodies and higher self, also known as your 8th chakra which sits out of your body above your head.
